US: Initial jobless claims rise to 379,000, highest in 8 months
FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - Initial jobless claims for regular state unemployment-insurance benefits rose by 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 379,000 in the week ended Dec 13, reaching the highest level since March.
This reading came in above expectations of 334,000 and also above the 369,000 (revised up from 368,000) registered the previous week.
Continuing claims, which reflect people already receiving benefits, rose by 94,000 to a seasonally adjusted 2,884,000 in the week ended December 6 vs. 2,790,000 in the previous week (revised).
