Fed's Kashkari: If Fed is making a mistake, it is a small one, can recover from it
Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari is giving an interview to Reuters with the key quotes found below:
- I wish others were joining in dissents
- Tthere is 'sympathy' with my views, but people not ready to take action
- I am not sounding an alarm on Fed's monetary policy
- Fed's decision to raise rates has nothing to do with politics or the administration
- Makes no sense to have a conversation now about raising the inflation target
- I disagree with Yellen on recent rate hikes, but hope she is reappointed as chair
- I expect unnecessary market anxiety around Fed's balance sheet at July, September FOMC meetings
- Would have liked to remove anxiety by saying balance sheet wind-down would start October or November
