Obama spoken against the referendum in Crimea

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - US President Barack Obama stressed the unconstitutionality (before the Ukrainian Constitution and international law) of the upcoming referendum in Crimea to decide whether secede from Ukraine and be part of Russia, amidst increasing effervescence around the region.

President Obama also announced the implementation of visa restrictions on pro-Russian officials opposing to the government just formed in Kiev, condemning at the same time the Russian invasion to the Crimean peninsula.

Although sanctions were not yet implemented, the White House confirmed that lawmakers are working on the subject, mainly aimed to those who destabilized Ukraine. In a more conciliating tone, President Obama later advocated for a solution that contemplates both Ukrainian and Russian interests.
